With a team of clinical and interventional cardiology researchers, the group's primary objective is to develop clinical research projects that address cardiovascular problems addressed in the health care system. The goal is to achieve results with practical applications for the National Health System in two major areas of research: acute coronary syndrome and heart failure.
There are 2 primary research lines:
-
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In recent years studies have been conducted on risk stratification in this population, especially the subgroup of patients with chest pain and normal troponin. Future research will continue along these lines, including the potential of ultrasensitive troponin, and new projects are already studying the impact of comorbidity and fragility on ACS management and prognosis.
-
Heart failure. The value of natriuretic peptides and CA125 as biomarkers for prognosis has been studied in patients hospitalized for acute heart failure. Future studies will explore drug therapy strategies guided by response to these biomarkers, as well as the usefulness of bioimpedance for risk stratification and as a guide in treatment decisions.
