Objective: The Ischemic Heart Disease Strategy is included in the Quality Plan for the National Health System (NHS) of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs and is based on the competencies provided for in legislation (Ley General de Sanidad, Article 70; Ley de Cohesión y Calidad, Article 64) and assigned to the Ministry of Health and Social Policy, so that “without prejudice to the autonomous competencies of healthcare planning and organization of servicies, the Ministry of Health and the responsible bodies of the Autonomous Communities, through the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System, in collaboration with the scientific societies, will develop Integrated Health Plans for the diseases that are most prevalent, important, or requiring a special sociofamilial effort, to guarantee integrated healthcare that includes the relevant prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
