It has been shown that the renin-angiotensin system participates in the development of the metabolic syndrome. This study aimed to show whether the angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker, irbesartan, exerts a protective effect against metabolic and cardiovascular abnormalities in rats fed a high fat diet (HFD).
